Personal SWOT Analysis
Download the Worksheet:
SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats
When we look at strengths and weaknesses, those are internal factors in this analysis.
Opportunities and threats are more so external factors.
This analysis is important because it helps you understand yourself better. By identifying your strengths, you can capitalize on what you're good at. Recognizing your weaknesses allows you to either work on improving them or, I could argue, to know what you don’t want to do and instead focus on your strengths.Moving on to external factors, understanding your opportunities helps you see where you can grow, while acknowledging threats helps you anticipate challenges and find ways to overcome them.
Focusing on the Strengths first, answer these questions:
What do you do well?
What qualities separate you from your competitors?
What internal resources do you have?
Now focusing on Weaknesses:
Where do you think you lack?
What do your competitors do better than you?
What are your limitations?
Do you have a clear unique selling point?
Looking at Opportunities:
Are there underserved markets for specific services you offer?
How many competitors are in your space?
Is there a unique service you can offer?
Lastly, assess your Threats:
What are obstacles you face?
Do you have negative attitudes or reviews against you or your business?
Are there any other external threats you can think of?
Once you complete your personal SWOT analysis, you'll use these insights to build your desired work life.
